Hayat Bakhsh Bagh (Life-Bestowing Gardens)

Hayat Bakhsh Bagh is very beautiful and historical place to visit. Maintained well and one can easily spend some good leisure time here. Hayat Bakhsh Bagh means Life Bestowing Garden is in the North Eastern portion of the Red Fort. It consists of two pavilions, Sawan and Bhadon, made of marble and named after Hindi months when rains come, through which a reservoir flowed. In between the reservoir, Bahadur Shah Zafar, the Last Mughal, made Zafar Mahal, made of sandstone. Third part of the Bagh was Mehtabh Bagh which the British removed and instead made barracks for officials.

This was the pleasure garden for princes and princesses and at the time of Shahjehan must have been a place to be in, full of gardens, flowers, fountains and the atmosphere.

Best Time to Visit ( 9AM - 6PM, October to March)
