Sacred Heart Cathedral

Sacred Heart Cathedral

Known for its beautiful Italian architecture, the Sacred Heart Cathedral in New Delhi is also one of the oldest buildings in the capital. It is situated at the southern end of Bhai Vir Singh Marg and is well spread over 14 acres. Sacred Heart Cathedral is situated right in the middle of two of Delhi’s most affluent schools, Convent of Jesus and Mary and Saint Columba.

The curved roof, broad arches with a backdrop of dark brick and marbled well-polished floors speaks volumes of the Italian style of architecture. The Sacred Heart Cathedral emphasises on assuring the participation of the weaker section of the society and celebrates Christmas with lepers and other homeless. The Cathedral also ensures that the money donated by the people goes to good use and provides blankets and other woollens to the downtrodden and the poor. This Cathedral is touted as the best church not only in Delhi but in India.

It is situated in a close proximity to Jantar Mantar, Hanuman Mandir, Rashtrapati Bhawan, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib and India Gate.
