Hauz Khas Village - A Blend of History, Art, and Nightlife in Delhi

The Hauz Khas complex in South Delhi consists of a water tank, an Islamic seminary, a mosque, Firoz Shah Tughlaq’s tomb and pavilions built around an urbanised village. The complex, near Green Park and Safdarjung Development Area, can be reached using metro rail also.

The village is a tourist-cum-shopping hub, sprinkled with art galleries, upscale boutiques and restaurants.  It is dotted with homes and shops set up by musicians, designers, travellers, food lovers, art and poster collectors, map makers, social activists and the Delhi LGBT community.

A light and sound show on the history of the complex is organised by the tourism department in the evenings. The complex is open to visitors all the year round from 10 am to 6 pm, and there is no entry fee.

The Deer Park at the entry to the tank is home to spotted deers, peacocks, rabbits, guinea pigs and variety of birds. Swans and ducks are among the residents of the Hauz Khas Lake.
