In preparation for the upcoming Chhath Puja celebrations, Western Railway has scheduled 104 special trains to meet the growing demand for travel to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and surrounding areas. Chhath Puja, deeply revered in regions like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, is celebrated with great fervor, as families come together to pay homage to the Sun God. Western Railway’s initiative aims to provide safe, comfortable, and convenient journeys for thousands of devotees traveling to participate in this auspicious occasion.
These special trains will operate on popular routes from cities such as Mumbai, Pune, and Ahmedabad, facilitating travel to major destinations like Patna, Varanasi, and Danapur. Key trains include the LTT-Banaras Special and LTT-Danapur Weekly Special, which have been scheduled on select dates in sync with the festival’s calendar. The trains are also equipped with additional coaches to accommodate more passengers, and major station stops have been carefully selected to maximize accessibility for travelers from various regions.
Booking for these special trains is available on the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website and app, as well as at railway counters. Western Railway officials advise early booking, especially for Tatkal (last-minute) tickets, as seats are expected to fill up quickly during the festive rush.
With these efforts, Western Railway ensures that travelers can focus on celebrating Chhath Puja with loved ones, without the hassle of last-minute travel arrangements. The additional trains reflect Indian Railways' commitment to cultural connectivity and the importance of making travel accessible during peak festive times.
