This time, we were looking for a cool and peaceful place. So, I put a query on vTraveller group on Facebook for suggestions, but the maximum reply was common like Shimla,Mussorie etc. We were looking for a less crowded place, so we decided to go Lansdowne in Uttrakhand district.
We were four boys (Vivek, Ankit, Pawan and Mohit) and started our journey from Delhi on 1st Oct 2015. Ankit came with his own car and we met at Azadpur metro station. After that, we brought some snacks and water for the journey.
We left Delhi around 9:00 PM and crossed Kotdwar around 4:00 AM (in between we took few stop for food). Hills area was started and only Ankit know driving, so we decided to stop the car and take a sleep. Around 7:00 AM, we woke up and started the further journey. We took one break for tea and reached Lansdowne around 9:00 AM.
We wasted around two hours to search hotel and finally got hotel called Jadli. Actually, due to a long weekend, all hotel was full. Hotel was located before 8KM from Lansdowne, but the location for very good and peaceful.
After a small rest and relaxation, we went Lansdowne market and first taken lunch. After that, we covered maximum place like Tip-in-Top, St. Mary Church, St. John Church, Army museum, Thandi Sadak, Bhulla Taal and Lansdowne market.
First we went Tip-in-Top along with both churches. From Tip-in-Top you can see the good view of hills; this site is also good for photography. Both churches are British time old building and maintained well.
After capturing some photos, we went army museum called Darwan Singh Museum. Museum having good collections of weapons, coins, painting, historical documents which are related to Garhwal Rifle and Indian Army. Museum is must see in Lansdowne (first time we see a museum like this). War memorial was adjacent to the museum, but entry was restricted, so we managed to capture photos from outside.
After exploring the museum, we went to Bhulla Taal and enjoyed boating. We also had a taste of Pani-Puri and Chaat. We expend more than one hour there and after that went to market. This place is idle for fun and relaxation.
In the market, I met with my cousin Manish Srivastava and passed some time with him. He is a government employee and posted in Lansdowne. Time was around 7:00 PM, so Ankit booked 'Sing is Bling' movie tickets. Movie time was at 7:30 PM, so we had tea and also enjoyed a taste of local sweet called Chocolate Mitai. The movie was OK, but watching the movie in the small town movie hall was the great experience.
Next day on 3rd Oct 2015, we decided to visit Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple. Actually last night after the movie, we spent some time for the night out. Lansdowne is not for nightlife, but we people made this (actually due to hotel unavailability, a lot of people spend a night on the roadside). So today, we started late and left for temple around 12:30 PM. Road from Lansdowne to Tarkeshwar temple was very good. Surrounding was full of green hills and weather was foggy. We took several halt for the photo session and reached around 2:00 PM at Temple.
This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and located at a cool and very peaceful place. If you are going to Lansdowne, then this place is must visit (not only for the temple, but the way from Lansdowne and Tarkeshwar is very good and superb). After visiting temple, we left this beautiful place and reached hotel around 6:00 PM. Around 8:30: PM, we checked out from the hotel and left for Delhi. Thanks for reading my experience.
